Bornholm Folkemøde
/The Colours of Democracy

Every year in June, The Folkemøde comes to Allinge, Bornholm. It's a huge political event, shaping democracy in Denmark, attended by 100,000 people. The streets around Mandy Stacey's Art Gallery ‘The House of Many Colours’ are full, so she was inspired to celebrate the event with a creative concept using her Bornholm PhotoArt ‘The Colours Of Democracy’ and a Limited Edition Gift range of Art Posters, Mugs and T-Shirts.

The creative concept for ‘The Colours Of Democracy’ brings together Mandy Stacey's colourful PhotoArt and Denmark's political party system. She assigned each of the 11 political parties a matching Bornholm colour image and a value to represent them.

For example, Enhedslisten was given the colour Orange, the value Supporting, the Bornholm image Østerlars Church' supporting roof structure. Another example, De Konservative was given the colour Green, the value Security, the Bornholm image F-16 fighter plane, Rønne Airport.

From this core creative concept, Art Posters and Gift Items such as Mugs and T-Shirts were created. As well as a Bar concept selling Democratic Drinks in colours and flavours to match the 11 political parties. Witty copywriting asked “Which one gets your vote?” and “Three Cheers for Democracy!”
