'Seeing Is Not Believing' is a collection of 35 intriguing and harmonious images, specially printed on aluminium (W 80 cm x H 60 cm).

"Curiosity is a very human trait. It activates our minds and stimulates our senses. When we see something of interest, we are compelled to find out more. The brain demands to know the answer to “What is that?" turning over various solutions until it is satisfied. I explored this concept in my collection of 35 intriguing images brought together into one artwork 'Seeing Is Not Believing' (created from photographs taken from 2017 to 2022). 

Inspired by the image (A2 - Top row, 2nd in) of a previously plain grey wall which inexplicably appeared 'painted with geometric shapes' (later turning out to be just shadows and reflections) it enabled me to understand the tricks of the mind to see things that aren’t there. More profoundly, it helped me understand my teenage daughter’s schizophrenia: just because she could see visions and hear voices didn’t mean that she had to believe they were actually there.

The harmonious layout of images – balanced for colour and form - shimmering on its glossy metal background, invites the viewer to take a closer look, to explore and discover. And the name of each image, provides an extra clue."
