The Colours of Bornholm – Yellow Art Mug

Question:   When is a mug not just a mug?

Answer:      When it’s an Art Mug that also tells stories!

With 24 different images of beautiful Bornholm, and 24 little stories behind them, there’s never been a better time to sit down with a nice cup of coffee!

The Yellow Art Mug is full of sunshiny happiness. It presents many of Bornholm’s best-loved sites and evokes the spirit of the island through its beautiful images, in many different shades of yellow.

So much more than a mug

  • Discover the 24 PhotoArt images including the stunning yellow church in Allinge; Gudhjem with its lichen yellow harbour wall and old smokery cottage; traditional yellow half-timbered houses in Rønne and Svaneke; and the magnificent 12th Century Østerlars Church.
  • Enjoy the detail of the island with its glass-blowing, herring-smoking and bicycling and of course its abundance of beautiful flowers and achingly beautiful sunsets.
  • Understand Mandy Stacey’s PhotoArt process that deconstructs landscapes into Colour Samples “redefining colour” – a slice of real life in all its 3D glory being so much better at representing that colour than a man-made colour chart.
  • Get an insight into the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966) through his Paint Samples and the inspiration behind Mandy Stacey’s PhotoArt Series.
  • Read the little stories about each picture. Sometimes informative, sometimes inspiring, they’ll tell you where they were taken and why. Sent to you as a print-out with the poster.

Product Details: High quality, modern design, 350 ml size, durable ceramic material, white mug with full colour printing, yellow interior, dishwasher proof. Posted to you in a small cardboard box.

Why not collect the set? Coloured Art Mugs also come in Green, Pink and Black - all with different Bornholm images and stories.

FACTFILE:

  • The Yellow Art Mug is an edit of Mandy Stacey’s PhotoArt Series “The Colours of Bornholm: In All Four Seasons” which is on display in her Gallery “THE HOUSE OF MANY COLOURS” in Allinge.
  • It is taken from the Colour Palettes for each season, part of the 12-part Series, where the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966) plays an inspirational role in the artworks, with their parallel colour palettes for each season.
  • This is what she has to say about the original exhibition artwork:

“I fell in love with Bornholm in the summer of 2022. It was easy. The vibrant colours, the breath-taking beauty of the nature, the ageless charm of the place. And then I discovered the famous artist Oluf Høst’s paintings of Bornholm, capturing the same scenes in the same bright colours, and it inspired me to create a PhotoArt series celebrating the colours of Bornholm in all four seasons.”

  • Her interest in Oluf Høst was rewarded with an exhibition in The Oluf Høst Museum in 2023 using her PhotoArt to tell the fascinating story of the artist’s son Ole W. Høst who tragically died in WW2.
  • Mandy Stacey is an English artist now living in Sandvig with her Danish husband and business partner Curt Stavis. As well as creating her PhotoArt, they both have a company Bornholm365 to develop business and tourism on the island all year round.
