'Redefining Colour' 100 cm x 100 cm Backlit Acrylic + Stories 

In April 2017 Mandy Stacey made her very first image for this PhotoArt. It was "Will-o-the-Wisteria" (Column 1, Row 6) - the pale purple close up image of the Wisteria flowers that had her fascinated by the repeating pattern of the blossoms that fell in a delicate cascade and filled her lens. Little did she know then that it would form the basis of her artistic process 'Redefining Colour' where the colours of nature, in all their vibrant 3-D colourful glory, replace the flat, solid colours of a man-made colour chart. From this point on, she collected her 'Colour Samples' as the colours leapt out at her from the surrounding landscapes (the majority in England) - until by 2020 she had enough different shades to make one enormous, celebration palette.

"Backlits are my preferred format for my PhotoArt, because it most closely resembles what I see. With my colour synesthesia and heightened senses, I view the world around me in very bright colours, that stimulate my senses and fill me with joy. And when my art is seen on a digital screen or backlit it really brings it to life, adding vibrancy to the colours. I just wish they were easier to photograph... trust me they look even better in real life."
