The Colours of Bornholm Autumn Montage Backlit Acrylic A2 + Stories

Now there is a new and special way to appreciate the beauty of Bornholm - with a Limited Edition Backlit PhotoArt. Not only is it a modern, statement art piece in your home, it is also a glowing light source that can be turned up and down to perfect the mood. This uplifting, colourful PhotoArt montage of Bornholm by the artist Mandy Stacey captures the magic of the Danish island in all its warm Autumn earthiness. And, as with all Mandy Stacey's artworks, it combines imagery with storytelling... so behind every little picture is a story…

Here's what Mandy Stacey has to say about her Backlit PhotoArt:

"Backlits are my preferred format for my PhotoArt, because it most closely resembles what I see. With my colour synesthesia and heightened senses, I view the world around me in very bright colours, that stimulate my senses and fill me with joy. And when my art is seen on a digital screen or backlit it really brings it to life, adding vibrancy to the colours. I just wish they were easier to photograph... trust me they look even better in real life."

So, sit back and get cosy, enjoying Bornholm in Autumn in the details of the Backlit PhotoArt:

  • The 'Hero Pictures' of Bornholm’s favourite places: Salomon's Chapel, Hammeren; Nyker Church; Hammershus Castle Ruin view; Hasle Smokery.
  • The 'Colour Samples' of little photo images of beautiful Bornholm from Mandy Stacey’s autumn colour palette.
  • The 'Paint Samples' of the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst including the brush strokes of his autumn colours.
  • The little stories about each picture. Sometimes informative, sometimes inspiring, they’ll tell you where they were taken and why. Sent as a print-out with the Backlit PhotoArt.

The different coloured images all come together in a harmonious composition, evoking the rich warmth of autumnal fruits and the deep greens and browns of the magnificent landscapes of Bornholm in autumn, brought to life with the glowing light from the backlit panel behind the Acrylic print.

FACTFILE:

  • The Autumn Montage is part of Mandy Stacey’s PhotoArt Series 'The Colours Of Bornholm: In All Four Seasons' which is on display in her Gallery 'The House Of Many Colours' in Allinge.
  • This is what Mandy Stacey says about the original exhibition artwork:

“I fell in love with Bornholm in the summer of 2022. It was easy. The vibrant colours, the breath-taking beauty of the nature, the ageless charm of the place. And then I discovered the famous artist Oluf Høst’s paintings of Bornholm, capturing the same scenes in the same bright colours, and it inspired me to create a PhotoArt Series celebrating the colours of Bornholm in all four seasons.”

  • The PhotoArt was inspired by the Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966), famous for his expressive colourful paintings. The 'Paint Samples' are from his painting: “Autumn Landscape”, Autumn 1925.
  • Her interest in Oluf Høst was rewarded with an exhibition in The Oluf Høst Museum in 2023 using her PhotoArt to tell the fascinating story of the artist’s son Ole W. Høst who tragically died in WW2.
  • Mandy Stacey is an English artist now living in Allinge, Bornholm with her Danish husband and business partner Curt Stavis. As well as creating her PhotoArt, they both have a company Bornholm365 to develop business and tourism on the island all year round.
