The Colours of Bornholm – 'Norresan Revisited' - Art Poster + Stories (BESTSELLER!)

A true celebration of magical Bornholm… This modern PhotoArt montage glows with life in a beautiful colour palette of yellows, greens and blues. The picture seems to draw you in to reveal its secrets. Stunning photography of some of Bornholm’s most famous sights, like the luminous green Opal Lake, the icy blue harbour at Snogebæk, and the traditional yellow half-timbered houses in the heart of Gudhjem, is offset by golden sunsets, close-ups of nature, and vibrant paint samples by the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966).

Exhibited in 'The House Of Many Colours' in Allinge, the original PhotoArt shows Mandy Stacey’s large backlit montage hanging next to a reproduction of the painting by Oluf Høst that inspired it. Painted in 1955, Høst’s masterpiece “View from the garden at Norresan” shows his own house glowing gold in the afternoon winter sun, offset against the powerful turquoise sky and the vibrant blue of shadows-on-snow of the foreground. Side by side it is easy to see the parallels in colour palette and composition. And easy to understand why it was a Gallery Bestseller in 2024.

But it’s not just the 52 images in the montage that capture your attention, behind every image is a little story… and in the Gallery these are played as audio recordings when chosen by customers. A truly immersive experience that you can bring into your home too.

Immerse yourself in the different elements of the PhotoArt:

  • Mandy Stacey’s large 'Hero Shots': “Opal Lake with Hammershus View, Hammeren”; Windmills with a Turquoise Sky”; “Yellow Houses in Gudhjem”; “Row of Winter Trees at Sunset”; “Bicycles on Balka Beach”; “View over Snogebæk Bay”; and “View over Nørresand from Norresan (Oluf Høst Museum), Gudhjem.
  • Mandy Stacey’s 'Colour Samples' that capture a small slice of Bornholm life in all its detail from smokery chimneys to granite cliffs; from fields of flowers to ancient white churches; from blue, blue skies to the greenest of seas. All adding up to the very essence of Bornholm – capturing its spirit and its soul.
  • Oluf Høst’s beautiful coloured 'Paint Samples' where the brushstrokes seem freshly painted.
  • The little stories about each picture. Sometimes informative, sometimes inspiring, they’ll tell you where they were taken and why. Including insights into Oluf Høst’s painting through his 'Paint Samples'. (The stories are included as a print-out - in English or Danish - with the Art Poster).

  • The original 'Norresan Revisited' is a one-off PhotoArt by Mandy Stacey currently on display in her Art Gallery 'The House Of Many Colours' in Allinge, alongside her 12-part PhotoArt Series 'The Colours Of Bornholm: In All Four Seasons'.
  • The 2 PhotoArt’s draw on the same 'Colour Palettes' for each season, and both include 'Paint Samples' by the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966) who plays an inspirational role in the artworks, with their parallel colour palettes for each season.
  • This is what Mandy Stacey has to say about the original exhibition artwork:

“I fell in love with Bornholm in the summer of 2022. It was easy. The vibrant colours, the breath-taking beauty of the nature, the ageless charm of the place. And then I discovered the famous artist Oluf Høst’s paintings of Bornholm, capturing the same scenes in the same bright colours, and it inspired me to create a PhotoArt Series celebrating the colours of Bornholm in all four seasons.”

  • Her interest in Oluf Høst was rewarded with an exhibition in The Oluf Høst Museum in 2023 using her PhotoArt to tell the fascinating story of the artist’s son Ole W. Høst who tragically died in WW2.
  • Mandy Stacey is an English artist now living in Allinge with her Danish husband and business partner Curt Stavis. As well as creating her PhotoArt, they both have a company Bornholm365 to develop business and tourism on the island all year round.
