The Spring Colours of Bornholm – Montage - A2 Poster

An uplifting colourful PhotoArt montage of Bornholm by the artist Mandy Stacey that captures the magic of the Danish island in all its fresh springtime beauty. And behind every little picture is a story…

Immerse yourself in the different elements of the PhotoArt:

  • The “Hero Pictures” of Bornholm’s favourite places: Stavehøl Waterfall; Melsted Beach; Beech Wood in May, Hammeren; Østerlars Church; Hammershus Castle Ruin.
  • The “Colour Samples” of little photo images of beautiful Bornholm from Mandy Stacey’s spring colour palette.
  • The “Paint Samples” of the famous Bornholm artist Oluf Høst including the brush strokes of his spring colours.
  • The little stories about each picture. Sometimes informative, sometimes inspiring, they’ll tell you where they were taken and why. Sent as a print-out with the poster.

The different coloured images all come together in a harmonious composition, evoking the fresh growth and vibrant colours of Bornholm in springtime.

FACTFILE:

  • The Spring montage is part of Mandy Stacey’s PhotoArt Series “The Colours of Bornholm: In All Four Seasons” which is on display in her Gallery “The House of Many Colours” in Allinge.
  • This is what she has to say about the original exhibition artwork:

“I fell in love with Bornholm in the summer of 2022. It was easy. The vibrant colours, the breath-taking beauty of the nature, the ageless charm of the place. And then I discovered the famous artist Oluf Høst’s paintings of Bornholm, capturing the same scenes in the same bright colours, and it inspired me to create a PhotoArt series celebrating the colours of Bornholm in all four seasons.”

  • The work was inspired by the Bornholm artist Oluf Høst (1884-1966), famous for his expressive colourful paintings. The paint samples are from his painting: “View of Gudhjem from Bokul”, Spring 1922.
  • Her interest in Oluf Høst was rewarded with an exhibition in The Oluf Høst Museum in 2023 using her PhotoArt to tell the fascinating story of the artist’s son Ole W. Høst who tragically died in WW2.
  • Mandy Stacey is an English artist now living in Sandvig with her Danish husband and business partner Curt Stavis. As well as creating her PhotoArt, they both have a company Bornholm365 to develop business and tourism on the island all year round.
