The Folkemøde 12-14 June 2024. Up to100,000 people attending the biggest Danish political annual event - and all walking past the front of Mandy Stacey's "The House Of Many Colours" Art Gallery on the harbour front.

How best to engage with them in an interesting, creative and political relevant way?

Mandy Stacey's response to this question was to develop a creative concept called "The Colours Of Democracy". Taking her lead from the 11 different Danish political parties - each represented by a different colour in parliament - she colour matched them to her own Bornholm PhotoArt - the picture being a metaphor to match the party's core value. eg Enhedslisten was ORANGE, with the value SUPPORTING and the image chosen was the supporting roof beams of Østerlars Round Church; Det Konsertavive Folkeparti was GREEN, with the value SECURITY and the image chosen was the F16 plane at Rønne airport. Once the colour coding system was created she then created a range of Limited Edition Art Gifts with a democratic message, including Art Posters, Mugs and T-Shirts with the aim of getting everyone discussing and debating.

The high profile campaign was followed through from Shop Display through Instagram outside and a range of 11 coloured "Democratic Drinks" for sale from the side window counter. Witty text announced "Three Cheers for Democracy" and "Remember to drink democratically!" A light-hearted and creative touch to engage with this important political event.
